Persons of Swedish or other Nordic ancestry, or who are committed to the promotion and advancement of Swedish and Nordic heritage and culture, 14 years or older, are eligible for membership in the Vasa Order of America.

The Vasa Order offers cultural and social programs,  folk dancing, help in tracing Scandinavian ancestry,  scholarships,  youth activities and children's clubs. Of the 237 Vasa Lodges in the US, Sweden and Canada, 19 make up Southern California's District Lodge No.15.  To join, or to find out more about the Vasa Order, click here for a map that will help you locate a Lodge close to you.  Then look at the Lodge list  to find a person to call or email in the Lodge. You can also look up local Lodge events, by date or by Lodge.

TWO NEW BOOKS

 ABOUT SMÅLAND

During her quest for her Swedish roots, Baltic Lodge member Dianne Carlson Cook soon became immersed in the culture and history of Småland.

The result were two books: Come Back to Småland, available for purchase at Lulu Publishing, and  Under Sweden Skies, edited by Dianne, with photos from Småland taken by Swedish genealogists and photographer Sven Danielsson.  It will be available for purchase at the Vasa Park Spring Festival. Inger Hanright, Grand Lodge Cultural Director for USA and Canada, has launched a great new online resource for people interested in Scandinavian culture, http://www.vasaorder.net/Culture/. You'll find these webpages filled with information, resource lists and links.  You may want to print them and share them with friends who do not have internet access. They will be updated periodically

Scandinavian Artist
